Leveling from 1 to 40 in Interlude is the slow, learning part of the game. Expect to follow starting quests, hunt monsters near your level, change class at 20, and begin looking for parties. Actual speed depends entirely on the server rates, so do not trust any universal number.
Phases
- 1-20: starting area quests and nearby monsters; this ends with the first profession.
- 20-40: new skills and better gear; many players start looking for parties; this ends with the second profession.
Habits that save time
- Hunt monsters close to your level: much higher or lower gives poor experience or risk.
- Rest and recover instead of dying: death costs experience.
- Learn new skills as you level (skills need SP and often spellbooks).
- Keep a bit of Adena for consumables and teleports.
Rates matter
Experience rates differ a lot between servers. Read the rates explanation in Rates explained: x1, x7, x100 and what they mean and check your server before planning.
